Pierre Sgamma was born in Alger. His father was a legionnaire and his mother was sweet, sensitive and romantic, a great lover. His grandfather was a traveller and his grandmother was a medium, fanciful, who read him cards. He is from an italian exiled family, mistreated by the history.

His childhood has been heckled by this explosive mixing and made him an open-mind and curious man, on alert, available to every possibilities. Conniving with the women of his childhood, he owes them this combination of strength and deep sensitivity. He has grown up in Alger, Calvi, Bonifacio, Lyon and Roma. Tossed around  by this wandering childhood, , stateless but bracing, watered by various cultures and beliefs, Sgamma had developed an extended artistic vocabulary and and a great freedom of expression. For 13 years, the artist has chosen L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue to live and work.
