From October 26th to February 16th, Campredon art center, in L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, present « Adsum », first retrospective with such a stature dedicated to Pierre Sgamma’s work.
The exhibition offers a wide insight of his creation during these 5 last years, born from 20 years of research, discoveries, failures, joys, doubt, curiosity, meetings…
The artist’s very personnal universe, as strange as enigmatic, always brings us into a journey toward myth, legend, symbolism, metaphor and poetry, like an inside odyssey.
With originality and relevance, he explores our paradoxes, our need for contraries, our feelings, our fears, or flaws but also our resources.
He confronts us to our strangeness to shake our state of consciousness, our stereotypes, in order to free us from the possibilities.
After the meeting with the taxidermist Jacques Gilbert, he gives a new dimension to his work. He uses the animal to question our human condition, explore our constant duality.
The creation of monumental sculptures offers a strange and bewitching atmosphere. The artist’s universe, combined to the craftsman’s work, takes the visitor into fascinating stories, myths and legends.
