Exposition CAMPREDON centre d'art « Laurent Delaire, Ces blancs que je creuse » © Laurent

From July 2 to October 2, 2022

Organized by the City of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue

Constructed in three non-chronological chapters, the exhibition by visual artist Laurent Delaire at the Campredon art center presents paintings, drawings and installations that probe the mystery hidden beyond the world of appearances.

In drawings depicting his intimate environment, the artist, by different processes, interferes with the usual codes of perspective and shows us that the representation, if it includes a part of imitation of reality, constitutes above all a subjective vision. and a plastic system that has its own life.

On his black monochrome paintings of Mars, the artist always proceeds by erasing the medium in order to make the initial drawing partially reappear as well as the white background of the support which suddenly acts as light. There thus occurs an epiphany from which emerge landscapes or figures marked with a spiritual or even religious dimension.

In the environment They all became shadows, index-images (imprints by rubbing) construct a domestic space by staging the very absence of objects and beings supposed to populate it, thus evoking the impermanence of our condition of humans. Finally, the artist proposes a staging of his asemic writings (freed from communication), an exercise in attention to gesture and to the here and now and which he has been developing for ten years.
